The French Open

One of Tal’s life goals is to go to all four of the major professional tennis tournaments. The four majors are the US Open, Wimbledon, the French Open (also known as Roland Garros) and the Australian Open. This spring we had the chance to complete 75% of his goal by going to the French Open.

We took the TGV train, which is the bullet train of Europe, and got to Paris in a few hours. The picture below was taken when we were going over 200 miles per hour…

The first few days were spent seeing to some of Anita’s and my favorite places in Paris…

Tal’s little brother Noah and his wife Kristi arrived with their son Jacobson a day later. They too have the desire to see all four of the Opens. It was so fun to see them and although they had spent the night on the plane, they were excited to go out and see the sights…

Noah and Kristi did a good job of staying awake for most of the day.   Little Jacobson, on the other hand, was asleep for most of the day…

Noah and Kristi sort of ran out of gas when we sat down in the subway. It was pretty funny because Tal asked Noah a question and he answered it completely coherently and then fell asleep within seconds…

We went to the Louvre…

Little Jacobson was so good the whole time! His routine was to eat, sleep, and cry a little when he wanted to eat again.

On Monday we went to Roland Garros…

Tal thought the poster for 2010 was a good fit for the French Open…

Anita was happy to see a Swiss player (Stefanie Voegele) give Serena Williams a run for her money (see below on the jumbo screen)…

We saw Andy Murray play a great five set match.

We actually got tickets into the players areas (long story) so we spent some time with the families of the players in the area below…

So happy to be there!
